Any trip to Egypt must include Cairo on the itinerary. A lively city, where ancient and modern sit shoulder to shoulder, Cairo is filled with reminders of its history and a trip to the pyramids nearby will reinforce that magical past.
However, Cairo does not hold all the historic cards and is perhaps outdone by Luxor, a sightseeing paradise filled with tombs and temples and of course the Valley of the Kings. Luxor is typically the starting point for a cruise on the Nile.
