Egypt

Steeped in ancient history, Egypt is a fascinating country full of intrigue for your family holiday, not to mention the miles of beaches and clear water!

Family Holidays in EgyptFlying time from the UK to Egypt is around five and a half hours, yet in that relatively short time you will be transported to a land that offers beautiful white sandy beaches, hours of sunshine and temperatures in the high thirties during the summer months.  Add to this the pyramids of Giza and the magnificent sight of Mount Sinai and you have a truly fascinating blend for your trip.

The Red Sea resorts of Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh are perhaps best suited to those looking for a predominantly sun (or water) based holiday, with both resorts offering gorgeous water and sun drenched beaches.  Entertainment is perhaps a little more low-key in Hughada and nieghbouring El Gouna and Makadi Bay, the latter with wonderful opportunities for coral reef snorkelling.

Any trip to Egypt must include Cairo on the itinerary.  A lively city, where ancient and modern sit shoulder to shoulder, Cairo is filled with reminders of its history and a trip to the pyramids nearby will reinforce that magical past.

Diving in the Red SeaHowever, Cairo does not hold all the historic cards and is perhaps outdone by Luxor, a sightseeing paradise filled with tombs and temples and of course the Valley of the Kings.  Luxor is typically the starting point for a cruise on the Nile.

Flying to Egypt for your family holiday will generally take you to the aiport closest to your final destination – depending upon your carrier, it is possible to fly to Luxor, Hurghada, Sharm El Sheikh or Cairo from the UK.
