Rhodes

The glorious sunshine record in Rhodes provides a near-guarantee of a scorching family holiday, but when the midday heat is on there is no shortage of entertainment.

Like many of its Greek Island compatriots, Rhodes offers a fine array of shops, bars and historical sights all packaged in an island that’s easy to explore – and well worth touring for its picturesque coves and villages.

Rhodes Town is steeped in history and the tiny streets lead to such sights as the Old Town, Mandraki Harbour and the Palace of the Grand Masters.  The bustling harbour is home to welcoming tavernas in which to relax after a day relaxing on the shingle beach.

Heading a short distance to the west leads you to the tranquil resort of Ixia which is purpose-built and modern but still offers plenty for those seeking a relaxed family holiday.  Watersports are locally available and with Rhodes Town in close proximity you’ll want for nothing during your stay.

Equally peaceful is the village resort of Lardos with its sweeping sandy beach stretching out.  The beach offers tavernas and the main village resort offers further eateries and shops.

The small resort of Kalathos also presents a laid-back way of life for your family holiday with the emphasis being lazy days on the beach – nearly three miles long and a mixture of sand and pebbles.
