Limassol is the second largest city in Cyprus and is a welcoming place for a family holiday. The bay stretches for miles either side of the city consisting of man-made and gently sloping beaches.
To the east of Limassol is Amathus and Ayios Georgios, both of which feature a good range of bars and tavernas and excellent swimming and some of the finest hotels on the island are situated around this area, including the Amathus Beach and the Four Seasons Limassol.
The area around Limassol is a key wine-producing region in Cyprus and there are planty of wineries to visit. Limassol itself also boasts an ancient castle, albeit rebuilt since its initial 14th century construction, which stands near the old harbour. Much of the surrounding area is historical and the local attractions reflect this, with a selection of castles and archeological sites. Also in the Old Town area is The Time Elevator, a virtual ride that takes you through the history of Cyprus in around 45 minutes.
There is plenty of nightlife to be found in Limassol, with bars, ice cream shops and coffee shops staying open until the small hours.
