Kefalonia

The stunning scenery of Kefalonia provides a spectacular welcome to those arriving for their family holiday.

Combining the green of the pine forest with the blue of the skies and beaches, Kefalonia presents a colourful destination with its white sands and blue-grey cliffs – and with some beautiful caves and bays that can only be reached by boat it’s worth taking the time to explore.

Life on the island is relaxed and simple, focused on the sunshine-drenched beaches.  The largest of the resorts is Lassi, boasting two long sweeping beaches and plenty of activities and bars to help while away the day.  As sundown approaches you can select from the many good restaurants and tavernas and stroll around the shops and markets.  It is also conveniently close to the airport and to the island capital, Argostoli.

Typically Kefalonia, the village of Fiskardo is pretty and relaxed but isn’t short of things to keep your family holiday chill-out ticking along nicely.  Focusing on the small beach by day and the bars and tavernas by night, Fiskardo is a beautiful and historic destination.

Blessed with a shingle and sand beach that stretches for over 2 miles, the resort of Skala is busy but welcoming, perfect for families with the emphasis on lazy days on the beach concluding with a relaxed meal in a friendly taverna.  Watersports activities can be found along the waterfront or you can stroll the village streets and peruse the markets, taking in the ruins of the Old Town, virtually destroyed in the 1953 earthquake.
