East Anglia
The East Anglia coastline contains many areas of designated Outstanding Natural Beauty and despite beNorfolk ing the least populated county in England it has plenty to provide for a successful family holiday.
Much of the holiday industry is focused on Great Yarmouth, Cromer, Sheingham and Hunstanton. Holiday parks are plentiful in these areas and there are 5 Blue Flag beaches. Local attractions include the Pleasure Beach at Great Yarmouth, Yesterday's World museum and boat trips on the Norfolk Broads.
The county of Suffolk offers a more relaxed way of life, with the beautiful beach at Southwold holding one of 4 Blue Flag awards in the county. Lowestoft is the county's biggest draw for family holidaymakers and has its own exciting theme park in Pleasurewood Hills. Nature and history features strongly in the local attractions and Aldeburgh and Bressingham Gardens and Steam Railway are well worth a visit.
Moving into Essex, the vibrant resort of Southend-on-Sea offers the world's longest pier and seven miles of seafront! Clacton-on-Sea is a popular destination for a family holiday and both towns have good access to fun parks, gardens and museums and both have a pier packed with family entertainment.
Further inland lie the historical Roman towns and the University city of Cambridge is readily accessible. All of this just a relatively short train ride or drive from London!
