Malta
At just 17 miles by 9 miles, Malta is a tiny yet hospitable island where you can expect to be afforded a warm welcome on your family holiday.
In the past it was a British colony and English is spoken across the island. Lying as it does at the very centre of the Mediterranean it almost guarantees sunshine throughout the year. It is a sightseer's dream, with its Renaissance and Baroque architecture.
Car hire on Malta is very affordable and the island is easy to navigate during your family holiday. St Julians is a lively resort offering excellent nightlife; the medieval walled city of Mdina, the cathedral of St John's at Valetta and the stunning caves of the Blue Grotto are all worth a visit.
The smaller, greener resort of Gozo is a haven for snorkelling and diving and is just a short ferry ride from Malta.
