Lonely Planet Books
Since the publication of their first book in 1973, Lonely Planet founders Tony and Maureen Wheeler have overseen around 700 titles in a host of countries. Their Country Guides have become de rigeur for students, backpackers and middle-class travellers alike.
The company now employs over 500 staff and nearly as many authors complete the make-up of Lonely Planet and supports a number of charitable organisations, with 5% of company profits being passed to charities via the Lonely Planet Foundation.
The line-up of publications currently includes Country Guides, Region Guides, Shoestring Guides and City Guides along with a vast array of other informative and useful books.
